Controller
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Salary: $150,000- $160,000
Our client, a beloved staple in their industry, is searching for a dynamic Controller to join their team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position will lead all accounting activities, including general accounting, internal controls, payroll, treasury, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. The Controller will ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, maintain compliance with GAAP, and drive continuous improvement within the accounting function.
Responsibilities for the Controller:
- Oversee the Accounting department, managing daily, monthly, and annual financial requirements to support company operations.
- Design and maintain the accounting system, financial reporting system, and chart of accounts.
- Ensure all accounting policies and procedures comply with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
- Manage the monthly closing process, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data.
- Review monthly financial results, analyzing variances between budget, actual, and prior year results.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and leading initiatives to enhance processes and reduce costs.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team that supports business needs and fosters individual growth.
- Oversee payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Coordinate and manage the annual financial audit and other audits (e.g., sales and use tax, 401k, insurance).
Qualifications for the Controller:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and supervisory experience, including public accounting and prior Controller roles.
- Strong proficiency in technical accounting and US GAAP, with ERP/Accounting system expertise.
- Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
